CRI Liquid Crystal RGB Filters

Micro*Color™ 2 Tunable RGB Filter for Microscopes

Convert your monochrome camera with an RGB filter from Cambridge Research & Instrumentation, Inc.

The Micro*Color™ family of slider and optical coupler-mounted liquid crystal RGB filters brings precise quantitative color to microscopy, offering full CCD pixel utilization and improved resolution with outstanding color fidelity. They are compatible with Leica, Nikon, Olympus, and Zeiss microscopes.

An imaging system using a Micro*Color™ 2 filter takes each red, green, or blue color plane in sequence and in perfect registration, thereby capturing exact color information at each pixel with no spatial interpolation necessary. This effectively triples the resolution in comparison with an ordinary “painted” pixel CCD camera, which records only one color per pixel. This also avoids the color shading inherent in designs that use three CCDs, and the complexity of pixel-shift systems.
